Camden CCG is working with the other four CCGs that make up North Central London – Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Islington – to integrate existing NHS 111 telephone and GP out of hours services.
NHS 111 is a free telephone number to help people with urgent, but not life-threatening, conditions get advice and access the most appropriate service to meet their needs. Trained advisers triage patients and direct them to the right service that is nearest them.
GP out of hours services are available so that patients can still access primary care for urgent problems when their GP surgery is closed, in particular at nights and on weekends.
We believe that by integrating these two services, they will become more efficient and effective. It will make sure people get what they need, when they need it, from a professional with the right skills.
This proposed integrated service will therefore meet the needs of all patients across the whole of North Central London and break down barriers that currently exist when a patient is ‘out of borough’.
We are hoping to engage with as many of the public (patients and carers) as possible to ensure their thoughts, opinions and experiences inform the decisions made about the future of these services.
We will be holding patient engagement events and making online surveys available to gather as much feedback as we can from people across North Central London.
The Camden CCG website will be updated with the latest information in the coming months so please keep checking back to make sure you remain informed.
